Farmer graduates from Florida Marine center

Marine Private First Class Hannah Farmer graduated June 17 from The Center for Information Dominance; Corry Station located in Pensacola, Fla. She is now stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. with the First Radio Battalion.

She is the daughter of Michael and Pamela Farmer of Searsmont.


World War II veteran presented Silver Star Honorable Service Medal

Patricia Duplissa of Camden was presented the Silver Star Honorable Service Medal by Lt. Col. Peter Ogden, director of the Maine Veterans’ Services. This new state medal recognizes veterans of World War II who were wounded in combat. Duplissa is the first women to receive this recognition in the state. She served in the First WAC Expeditionary Force which was stationed in High Wycombe, England from 1943-1945. She was presented the medal at her surprise 90th birthday party on June 12 at the Camden American Legion Post NO. 30. Standing behind Duplissa, from left, are her grandson, Joshua Masse, a recently returned veteran of the Iraq War; Post Adjutant Commander Raymond Lewis; and Post Commander Ronald Rainfrette.
