Michael Good Gallery’s 12th annual Salute to Summer will take place Thursday, July 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 499 Main St., its new city location. The public is invited to enjoy complimentary wine and refreshments by the Chi Chi Chef.

“We’ve always loved welcoming the arrival of summer with our annual celebration. This year, with the grand opening of our new gallery in Rockland, it’s a bigger celebration than ever,” said gallery manager Avi Good.

As part of the celebration, the gallery will mount a special show featuring the work of master forger Douglas E. Wilson, who creates fine-lined metal furniture and decorative pieces; jewelry designer Sydney Myers, whose minimalist pendants capture precious gems inside clear acrylic shapes; and Karen Good, whose Pronto Plate lithographic prints combine images and type in collage-like assemblages that hint at complex narratives.

Celebrants will be invited to enter a raffle for a chance to win a beautiful handmade quilt, a lobsterboat ride and lobsters, a pair of sterling Michael Good earrings or other exciting prizes. The raffle is being held in support of  Zing!, a new program from Pen Bay Healthcare aimed at energizing kids to achieve a healthier weight and lifestyle. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25. The drawing will be held at the end of the evening, and all proceeds will go to Zing!

The new Rockland gallery is the second local venue displaying the full line of Good’s iconic sculptural earrings created in 18-karat gold or sterling silver using a process called anticlastic raising. In addition to Good’s jewelry, both the Rockland location and the original gallery and studio on Route 1 in Rockport offer a fine selection of art and jewelry by other outstanding American and European artists.

Summer hours at the Rockland store are Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Rockport location is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, contact Avi Good at 236-9619 or avi@michaelgood.com.
