Local artist Catinka Knoth will give a series of  free watercolor painting and drawing demonstration classes on depicting Maine coastal floral scenes in the Friends Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St.

The series will meet Mondays, July 11, 18 and 25 at 11 a.m. The first demonstration will revisit Knoth’s painting “Lupine on North Haven.” Knoth will show techniques such as washes, calligraphic brushwork and mark making. Attendees, using colored pencils, will create and take home their own art drawings and cards of the scene.

Remaining sessions offer a different scene to explore each week: July 18, “Oriental Poppies in an Early Summer Garden”; and July 25, “Rosa Rugosa — Beach Roses by the Maine Seashore.”

Friends of Rockland Public Library sponsors the demonstrations, which are open to the public with materials provided. Knoth also teaches a weekly children’s drawing class at the library. For more information about Knoth’s artwork and classes, visit catinkacards.com or call Knoth at 596-0069.
