Local Cub Scouts from Pack 200 of Camden spent two nights camping at Camden Hills State Park June 17-19.
The camp out included a service project for the Ranger where Cub Scouts cleaned out an area in the park of the invasive plant bittersweet. The service project was part of a pack initiative to earn the Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics badge. Scouts and invited guests also participated in a hike to the top of Mt. Battie, Scouts participated in campfire cooking and an evening awards and induction ceremony at the outdoor shelter. Members of the American Legion were on hand to demonstrate the proper way to retire a flag.
Sunday’s closing ceremony included an optional worship service led by Mike Fletcher of the First Congregational Church.
