The Friends of Rockport Public Library will hold its “42nd Edition” annual book sale on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 14-16. The sale will be held at the Midcoast Recreation Center on Route 90 in West Rockport. As always, literally thousands of great quality books and related literary materials will be available at extremely reasonable prices.

On Thursday, July 14, the sale will kick off with a Friends’ Sale from 5 to 7 p.m. Everyone is extended a warm invitation to become a Friend of the Rockport Library no matter where one lives. A one-year membership is $10 for individuals, $15 for families, and $25 for patrons and businesses.

With the new membership, one can preview the sale Thursday and have first selection of the books: 15 books for individuals and 30 books for other membership categories. Membership renewals can be paid at the library or at the book sale.

Please remember that organizers prefer dues to be paid by check, if possible. Also, please remember that one can expedite the process of paying for purchased books at the book sale if one has previously paid their dues.

On Friday, July 15, the sale will open promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. On Saturday, July 16 the sale will re-open promptly at 8:30 a.m. and go until 12 noon. After a short break the ever-popular “$5 Box O’ Books” sale starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 2 p.m., when all the remaining books are free.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the sale, with collectors and dealers especially welcome to join in the fun!

In addition to wonderful books, devotees of the library will be providing delicious homemade treats that will be available during both the Thursday and Friday sale periods. (Want to contribute a baked good? Call the library!)

The funds raised are donated directly to the Rockport Public Library and are used for purchasing new books, program materials, multimedia resources, children’s programs and equipment for the library. In the past three years alone, the Friends of Rockport Public Library have donated in excess of $25,000 in money and goods and services to the Rockport Public Library!

For more information, please contact Paul Charbonneau at 236-8783 or the library at 236-3642.

The Friends wish to extend sincere appreciation to the Midcoast Recreation Center for its wonderful cooperation in once again providing such an excellent venue for the book sale.
