On Sunday, July 11 from 1 to 3 p.m., rain or shine, Merryspring Nature Center will offer the free family workshop, “Nature Photography,” an introduction to recording outdoor adventures while adhering to “leave no trace” practices.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about a style of photography that will sharpen their observation skills and increase awareness of seasonal changes in nature. Activities will include a guided nature walk, a brief and very basic photography workshop, and journal crafts.

Participants are required to bring their own digital cameras and are encouraged to bring a favorite journal and art supplies. Limited supplies will be available.

“Nature Photography,” is part of Merryspring’s ongoing Outdoor Adventures series, led by Environmental Educator Sarah Lambson, and is offered on the second Sunday of the month from June through September. This series and another, Nature Explorers, held on the fourth Sunday of each month, will be offered from June through September, and each will focus on a variety of family-friendly outdoor activities.

Family programs are sponsored in part by Camden National Bank and offered free of charge. Activities are designed for ages 5-12 but are open to all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Merryspring is a member-supported, non-profit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Rt. 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden. For more information, call Merryspring at 236-2239 or visit the website at merryspring.org.
