Although funding is up in the air, registration is still ongoing for the Waldoboro Summer Recreation program for Waldoboro children entering first through sixth grade. Voters are scheduled to assemble Saturday, July 9 at 9 a.m. at Medomak Valley High School to decide the Recreation budget among others.

The Summer Rec program runs daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and provides five weeks of structured activities. There are many activities and field trips planned for this year including weekly swimming and hiking trips in addition to other activities around the Midcoast community. The program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 11 and continue through Friday, Aug. 12 at Miller School. However, due to scheduled maintenance on the gym floor, the program will meet at Medomak Middle School during the first week.

Program attendance is flexible, so families can go on vacations and still attend the remaining events when they return. Parents, legal guardians or designated representatives must sign children in and out each day. There are a maximum of 50 spots available each week. Program cost is $20/week per child. (Non-residents $30 – registrations for non-resident children will be accepted on a space available basis).

A limited number of scholarships are available for Waldoboro citizens only and may be arranged through the Recreation Department. To register or for more information, contact the Recreation Department at 832-5369.
