The Old Broad Bay Family History Association of Waldoboro announced that the Waldoboro Public Library is the recipient of the 2011 Jasper J. Stahl Memorial Award.

The Stahl Award is given annually to a person or organization that promotes genealogical and historical research and preservation. This year’s award was presented by OBBFHA President David Putnam to Library Director Tim McFadden in recognition of the library’s ongoing effort to compile, preserve and make available genealogical and historical records pertaining to the Waldoboro area.

The library will use the monetary award to purchase a two-year membership to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, which will allow patrons of the library to have free Internet access to the AmericanAncestors.org genealogical research database. The award was presented to McFadden at the OBBFHA Board of Directors meeting on June 18.
