Jeannie Brett, illustrator of the new children’s book “My Cat, Coon Cat,” will read from and sign copies of the book at two Midcoast locations. Brett will be at The Reading Corner, 408 Main St., Rockland, Friday, July 8 from 3 to 5 p.m.; and at Jane Alden, 6 Main St./Route 1, Camden, Saturday, July 9 from noon to 3 p.m.

The charming children’s book, written by Sandy Ferguson Fuller and published by Islandport Press, uses verse to tell the story of a young girl who moves into a new house and slowly wins the affection of a classic Maine coon cat.

Brett also illustrated “L is for Lobster, A Maine Alphabet”; “Fishing for Numbers, A Maine Numbers Book”; “M is for Mayflower, A Massachusetts Alphabet”; and “One if by Land, A Massachusetts Numbers Book.” She wrote and illustrated “Little Maine” and illustrated “Little New York,” “Little North Carolina,” “Little South Carolina” and “Little Pennsylvania, “state-themed board books of rhyming riddles. Brett, who lives in York with her family, attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
