“Local Color 2011” celebrates the work of 13 Maine painters and will occupy two floors of the Damariscotta River Association’s Round Top Farm, Business Route 1. The painters invite the community to a reception for the show Friday, July 8 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
The show’s work is produced by a group of artists who paint together weekly, guided and challenged by Katharina Keoughan of Friendship. In styles that range from photographic realism to impressionistic and stylized renderings, the more than 70 oil or acrylic paintings depict land-, sea- and sky-scapes, boats, gardens, rooms, nature studies, still life, interacting people and the myriad things of daily life.
Artists whose work is includes are Nancy MacKinnon, Denise Rankin, Karen Rutan, Liliana Thelander, Judy Conlan, Glenda Drum, Phyllis Guss, Pamela Hansen, Susan Naughton, Brooke Pacy, Lea Peterson, Gina Riddeford and Sarah Wilde. They sell their work through regional galleries and derive energy from the critical support and the inspiration of a vibrant community.
The exhibition will be open Friday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday through Tuesday, July 10 through 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 832-5732.
