Cinder Conk will return to the Midcoast Friday, July 8 during the monthly Damariscotta River Association coffee house evening at Round Top Farm, Business Route. The duo will perform at 8:30 p.m., following the open mic that begins 6:30 p.m.

Cinder Conk plays music drawn from the Black Sea, the wellspring of Europe’s deepest and most diverse musical traditions. It is the sound of celebration and lament of those who have lived on its coast over thousands of years including Roma, Jews, peasants and nationalists.

Cinder Conk weaves frenzied accordion riffs (Matthew Schreiber) with warm double bass counterpoint (Xar Adelberg) to create a sound that is energetic, gripping, winsome and haunting.

Already a fixture in the Midcoast music scene, Cinder Conk has also been busy elsewhere. Their recent touring schedule has had them on stage in New York (at Barbes) with Slavic Soul Party, in Boston with Bulgarian legend Petar Ralchev, in Vermont with California-based Fishtank Ensemble and co-billing with The Toughcats out on North Haven. To hear tracks from their new CD “Kukeri,” visit the Cinder Conk page on Facebook.

Admission to the Round Top coffee house is $6, $3 for senior citizens and free for children. For more information, call 563-1393.
