The city will be abuzz Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10 as the 16th annual Arts in the Park takes place in Heritage Park, right downtown on the scenic waterfront. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

This event is one of the Midcoast’s best arts festivals with people coming from far and wide to see and buy artwork and original crafts from the 80-plus participating artists. The variety of work is impressive, ranging from photography, pottery, paintings and sculpture to jewelry, fabric art, twig furniture, stained glass and more. The artists and artisans are from Maine, New England and farther afield.

Arts in the Park also offers non-stop live music. This year’s lineup features, on Saturday, The Rusty Hinges at 10 a.m., Belfast Bay Fiddlers at noon and the River City Harmonizers at 2 p.m.; and, on Sunday, the 195th US Army Band at 10 a.m. and, back by popular demand from noon to 4 p.m., the Blue Hill Brass Quintet.

Plenty of delicious food will be sold on site both days. For more information about Arts in the Park, visit or find its page on Facebook.
