Pamela Moore Parsons, associate professor of art at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa., will present a slide/lecture about her work Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at Thomaston Public Library, in the Thomaston Academy building on Main Street/Route 1.

The presentation, which will take place in the gym, is the first of this year’s Friends of Thomaston Public Library series Artists and Authors Among Us.

Parsons teaches and serves as coordinator of upper level painting programs. Parsons also co-manages a public environmental artist speaker series along with a land design and environmental remediation project planned for a campus brownfield. She is a summer resident of Thomaston where she paints and maintains a studio. Her future plans include bringing a class of her Pennsylvania students to the Midcoast to capture coastal life through drawing and painting; she also hopes to open a part-time community art gallery on Main Street. Currently her works are represented by the Watson Gallery in Stonington.

There will be a reception for all in attendance following the presentation. The series will continue with Chuck Paine, July 13; Carolyn Locke, July 20; Colin Page, Aug. 3; Jim Nichols, Aug. 19; and Patrick Guyer, Aug. 24. Artists and Authors Among Us is free but donations to the library are greatly appreciated. For more information, contact the library at 354-2453.
