The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce announces its online and live auction event for 2011. On Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 a.m., the “doors” will open to the auction, which will take place on the Internet at BiddingforGood.com/PBRCCAuction.

The chamber thanks its current sponsors: Gamage Antiques, Bangor Metro/Maine Ahead, The Coastal Journal, The Free Press, Maine Home + Design/Maine magazine, Mainebiz, The UPS Store and VillageSoup/The Herald Gazette.

The online auction bidding will run from Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. through Oct. 10 at 9 p.m., with about 100 items heading to a live auction on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Rockland Elks Lodge, located at 210 Rankin St. in Rockland. There will be live auction items, cash raffle prizes, raffle items, cash bar and a concession stand. Bruce Gamage will be the auctioneer.

The live auction items will be clearly identified on the website and absentee bidding will be available for those that cannot attend the live event.

Chamber members will be receiving emails about the auction and can forward those emails to invite an unlimited number of guests to virtually “attend” and take part in the auction.

Items up for bid will include business services, artwork, unique experiences, travel, lodging packages, dining, recreational activities, gift baskets, train rides, boat trips, festival tickets, landscaping supplies and much, much more.

Money raised by the auction will go towards supporting the many community and business initiatives of the chamber in making the area a great place to live and do business. These initiatives include:

· Marketing and public relations

· Economic development

· Publications, including the Maine Discovery Coast Magazine and Chamber Business (newsletter)

· Government and public affairs

· Maintaining and building membership and volunteer base

· Operating annual events

· Education initiatives

Everyone is welcome to browse, shop, or just drop by and sign the guest book to show their support for the auction at BiddingforGood.com/PBRCCAuction.
