Art Space Gallery, 342 Main St., invites the public to an opening reception of new works Friday, July 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Through the month, the foyer’s walls will be graced by the works of photographer Joan Wright; watercolorist Lydia Kaeyer; oil painter Sandra Leinonen Dunn; and woodturner William Mack.  Fifteen additional member artists’ works are distributed throughout the remainder of the gallery.

Recognized for its strong composition, Wright’s photography of Vinalhaven’s coast and culture is grounded in realist interpretation, yet it flirts with the abstract. Owls Head resident Kaeyer captures the essence of coastal Maine in works, many of which were painted plein air, that have earned numerous awards over the years. Art educator and children’s book illustrator Dunn balances light and shadow in her oil paintings of florals, fruit and landscapes. In addition to his intricate cloisonné enamels, Mack turns wood from storm-fallen trees to create fine pieces appreciated by the eyes and hands alike.

Art Space’s hours have expanded to Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m., staying open to 8 p.m. First Fridays. For more information, call 594-8784 or visit artspacemaine.com.
