As part of its Arts in the Barn summer series, the Cushing Historical Society will present a music recital Sunday, June 26 at 4 p.m. in its barn on Hathorne Point Road. Dedicated to the late Kathie Johnson, who did so much to contribute to the music of her community, the concert is offered by her friends and students.
The program will feature local artists Teal Vickery on violin and Sam McKenna on piano, as well as concert pianist Pierre Founier. They will perform five pieces: Frederick Chopin’s Preludes 4,6 and 20, Opus 25; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Sonata for violin and piano, KL 300, and Sonata for violin and piano, KL 305; George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” (piano transcription); and Johannes Brahms’ Intermezzo, Opus 117.
The performance is free and all are welcome to attend. The barn is located behind the Cushing Historical Society Meeting House.
