On Friday, July 1 at 2 p.m., the Coastal Children’s Museum will present a performance of Crabgrass Puppet Theatre’s “Jabberwocky” at Oceanside East, the former Rockland District High School, 400 Broadway.

Theatergoers will explore the magical world of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” where they will meet wondrous creatures like the mimsy borogrove, the frumious bandersnatch and the dreaded Jabberwock. “Jabberwocky,” a poem from the sequel to “Alice in Wonderland,” tells the tale of a heroic boy who sets out on a quest to find the fierce Jabberwock. Aided by his friends the borogroves, he travels through a mysterious landscape filled with such peculiar creatures as the slithy toves and the JubJub bird.

Crabgrass Puppet Theatre is an award-winning touring puppet theater founded in 1982 by Jamie Keithline and Bonny Hall. It has twice been awarded the prestigious Citation of Excellence from the American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette, the highest honor in American puppetry. They perform more than 200 shows each year for more than 100,000 people throughout the United States.

Advance tickets are $12, $10 for CCM members, $12 for non-members; $13 at the door. To purchase, contact Coastal Children’s Museum at 385-1105 or ccm@midcoast.com. For more information on the Coastal Children’s Museum, visit coastalchildrensmuseum.org.
