Howard Orne, son of the late Alfred Orne and Bertha Carter Orne, was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Cushing and departed this life on June 20, 2011, at Parklane Rehab in Wentzville, Mo., at the age of 89.

Mr. Orne was a veteran serving in World War II, was of the Baptist faith, a retired electronic technician for McDonnell-Douglas, and a resident of Lake St. Louis.

On Feb. 11, 1946, he was united in marriage to Louise Burnett in Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Orne preceded him in death on April 13, 1994.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Gray Orne of Lake St. Louis; one brother, Kenneth Orne of Cushing; five sisters, Berniece Bennett of Brewer, Eleanor Rose of Thomaston, Gloria Dearborn and JoAnn Butler, both of Union, and Leona Mixon of Perry, Ga.; and one grandchild.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Sidney Orne; and two sisters, Edith Johnson and Mary Greenlaw.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, June 24 at 1 p.m. in the Dexter Cemetery with the Rev. Karen Oldham officiating. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
