A second community forum on Waldoboro’s Downtown Master Plan scheduled for June 23 has been postponed. Waldoboro’s planning and development director will announce when it has been rescheduled.

This second community forum will focus on the benefits vibrant downtowns provide communities, how downtown revitalization can be accomplished, and work completed thus far on Waldoboro’s downtown master plan.

Waldoboro’s downtown village area is an economically and culturally important area in the town; it acts as an incubator for new businesses, supports locally owned businesses, is the historic core of the community and provides social and recreational opportunities. The vitality of the downtown also plays an important role in business retention and attraction throughout the town.

Since last February, the Waldoboro Economic Development Committee has been working with a consultant team consisting of Denis Lachman, Regina Leonard and Rodney Lynch to develop a master plan for the downtown village that will provide practical strategies to improve the commercial hub and cultural heart of downtown Waldoboro.
