Sticks and String: Learn to Knit, a knitting course taught by Consuelo Stacy, certified knitting instructor by the Craft Yarn Council of America, will be offered in two workshops this summer at Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, 24 Lincoln St.

The workshops will be offered consecutive Mondays and Wednesdays from July 11 through July 20; and Tuesday through Friday, Aug. 9 through 12. Sessions will run from 10 a.m. 4 p.m. each day, a total of 20 hours per workshop.

Participants will learn the basics and beyond. After two days of practice, they will visit a local yarn shop to learn how to choose yarn, patterns and needles and plan their projects. They will be ready for hundreds of beautiful projects, leaving with half a dozen patterns to match their new-found skills.

The workshops are designed for age 15 and older; younger students may attend with permission. Yarn and needles will be provided to start; participants should supply a small pair of scissors, pen and lunch.

Fee for the workshops, which are limited to 12 participants, is $75. For more information, call 594-6490 or send email to info@lincolnstreetcenter.org.
