The Heirloom Garden of Maine and Merryspring Nature Center announce that there will be a screening of “Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?” held at Merryspring on Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m.

With the rise of Colony Collapse Disorder, bee populations around the world have been declining with no clear single explanation. “Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?” combines the knowledge from a variety of experts and explores this global crises. The film follows beekeepers from around the world who have done away with industrial and mechanized methods of beekeeping and have gone back to a more natural way.

This film coincides with the missions of both Merryspring Nature Center and The Heirloom Garden of Maine in promoting conservation and safer, more natural horticultural practices.

This is a free film viewing, but donations are appreciated. Popcorn and drinks will be provided by Merryspring. Complimentary sunflower seeds will be offered by The Heirloom Garden of Maine to promote gardening for the bees. Arrive early, as seating is limited. This film is the first in Merryspring’s summer film series which shows a variety of nature and conservation centered films throughout the summer.
