Glenn Jenks will present his yearly Rose Day Talk on Tuesday, June 28 at noon at Merryspring Nature Center.

Roses are one of Jenks’ passions, and for the hour-long talk he will speak on a variety of topics to interest novices, experienced growers, and anyone who simply loves roses. He will discuss such topics as winter hardy species, the latest headlines in the rose business, satisfactory pesticides, how to grow roses in this climate, and the effects of climate change on the roses of Maine. As always, visitors are invited to bring in their “mystery” roses for his consideration.

After his talk, Glenn will lead a small caravan of people to tour several local rose gardens. The rose tour will start around 1:15 p.m. and last into the mid-afternoon. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to get a seat as this is a popular talk.

This program is part of Merryspring’s Summer Tuesday Talk Series, which is co-sponsored by The First and Jaret and Cohn.

Admission to the Tuesday Talks is free to Merryspring members and children. There is a $5 charge for non-members. Merryspring is a member-supported nonprofit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden.
