A drawing by Rachel Borch, a student at Camden Hills Regional High School, was selected for the spring 2011 “Maine Youth Excellence in Art” show at the Blaine House and will be displayed there into the fall.
Borch’s pencil self-portrait was completed in Russell Kahn’s drawing class. She was presented with a certificate and medal from First Lady Ann LePage at a tea ceremony May 31.
The Maine Arts Commission, in partnership with the First Lady, the Maine Art Education Association and the Maine Alliance for Arts Education, issued the call for student art for inclusion in the show. Art teachers from public, private and parochial schools in the state of Maine were invited to submit one piece of two-dimensional artwork that represents artistic excellence from a K-12 student. The selected works are hanging in various locations including the Capitol Building, the Burton M. Cross Building and the Blaine House.
