Steve Pixley said June 16 that the second annual Scholarship Art Auction of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge 82 would offer bidders a wide range of creative work.

While Camden residents and boaters know Pixley as that town’s harbormaster, he also serves as junior warden for the Rockport lodge. He will act as auctioneer for the event that will include nautical art and handcrafted work, as well as fine art pieces.

“Last year, we scheduled the auction at the same time as two other arts events,” said Pixley. In spite of that, he said, the 2010 event raise $1,100 for local scholarships. He said 30 students have applied for the scholarships and the four-member committee that will choose the beneficiaries hoped this year’s auction would raise enough to enable the lodge to offer two or more scholarships.

Refreshments will be provided by Cappy’s Chowder House and French & Brawn, and Pixley said wine would be served.

St. Paul’s Lodge 82 of Rockport’s second annual Scholarship Art Auction will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Viewing will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the lodge at 361 Main St. in Rockport. For more information, contact Pixley at 691-4314.
