University of New Hampshire announces May 2011 graduates

DURHAM, N.H. — The following students graduated from the University of New Hampshire during commencement ceremony held on May 21.

Eliza Derrey of Camden earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Ashley Matthews of Thomaston earned a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences, graduating summa cum laude and Erin Judkins of Thomastonearned an associates degree in applied animal science.

Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.0; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.69; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.2 to 3.49.

 

McKean named to Rider University dean’s list

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Julie McKean of Camden a senior German major, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester in the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences at Rider University.

Thomas College announces dean’s list students

WATERVILLE — Area students who were named to the dean’s list at Thomas College for the spring 2011 semester are:

Cassandra Grant of Rockland, majoring in psychology with a forensic psychology concentration.

Evan Brown of Vinalhaven, majoring in Computer Information Systems.

Ashley Kilbreth of Washington, majoring in criminal justice.

Walker named to dean’s list at Western New England College

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. — Jeremy R. Walker of Camden has been named to the dean’s list at Western New England for the spring semester of 2011. Walker is a senior majoring in accounting. Students are named to the dean’s list for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

 

Thomaston’s Bertocci earns degree from Clark University

WORCESTER, MASS. — Philip S. Bertocci, of Thomaston received a degree from Clark University on May 22. Bertocci graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management.

 

Merrifield graduates from Gettysburg College

GETTYSBURG, PA — James Merrifield of Waldoboro graduated with a bachelors degree from Gettysburg College on May 22. Merrifield majored in music. He also made the dean’s list for the spring semester.

Local resident graduates from Bates College

LEWISTON — Noah H. Burke, son of Frederick D. Burke and Deborah L. Schilder of Appleton, received a bachelor’s degree from Bates College on May 29. He was one of 437 seniors to graduate during the college’s 145th commencement exercises. A 2007 graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School, Burke majored in biology. Burke was a starter and played second base for the Bates Bobcats baseball team for all four years he attended. Burke tied the school record for the number of games played per season (36 in 2010) and holds the school record for the most doubles in a season (15 in 2010).

Maine Maritime Academy announces graduates

CASTINE — The following local students graduated from Maine Maritime Academy April 30 during the school’s 68th commencement:

Ross Taber, of Port Clyde, received a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, in Marine Engineering Technology Taber is a graduate of Georges Valley High School in Thomaston.

 

Vernon Kvorjak, of Owls Head, received a bachelor of science degree in Marine Engineering Operations.

Thomas Crane of Union received a master of science degree in Marine Management from Maine Maritime Academy.

Maine Maritime names students to dean’s list

OWLS HEAD STUDENT NAMED TO MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY DEAN’S LIST

CASTINE — The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the second semester of the 2010-2011 school year:  Students named to the Dean’s List earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Vernon Kvorjak, of Owls Head, a member of the class of 2011, is majoring in Marine Engineering Operations. He is a graduate of Rockland District High School.

Charles Darwin, of Rockport, a member of the class of 2014, is majoring in Small Vessel Operations. He is a graduate of North Atlantic Regional High School in Lewiston.

Ian Hopkins, of North Haven, a member of the class of 2012, is majoring in Marine Engineering Operations. He is a graduate of North Haven Community School.

Samantha Pease, of Warren, a member of the class of 2012, is majoring in Marine Biology. She is a graduate of Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.

James Morris, Port Clyde, a member of the class of 2012, is majoring in Marine Transportation Operations. He is a graduate of Georges Valley High School.

Stuart Feldpausch, of South Thomaston, a member of the class of 2013, is majoring in Marine Transportation Operations. He is a graduate of Rockland District High School.

Caleb Philbrook, of Waldoboro, a member of the class of 2013, is majoring in Marine Systems Engineering. He is a graduate of Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.
