Celtic Crossroads, critically acclaimed as the most exhilarating and authentic show to come from Ireland in decades, will come to the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., Saturday, June 25 at 8 p.m.

In an explosion of youthful energy and dazzling musicianship, this all-Irish group offers a modern, fun take on traditional Irish music, fusing it with eastern European Gypsy, North American bluegrass, jazz and the exciting rhythms of Irish dance percussion. Celtic Crossroads features seven world-class musicians playing more than 20 instruments on stage, as well as some of Irelands best-respected dancers.

Not many people are aware that practicing traditional Irish arts was outlawed in the homeland less than 100 years ago and unlawful gatherings at crossroads were tinged with danger. Irish music was kept secretively in the hearts of its people. The cast of Celtic Crossroads, all sons and daughters of musicians, are steeped in the tradition of these handed-down tunes and play with the wild, raucous relish of freedom, in tribute to their relatives and their country.

General admission tickets are $25 in advance and will be $28 day of show. For tickets and more information, call 594-0070 or visit rocklandstrand.com.
