The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what the sheriff said was the first possible bigamy case she can recall.
The department received a complaint Friday morning, June 10 from a woman in St. George, according to the sheriff’s office.
The woman said her husband moved to Florida a few years ago and has been living there, Sheriff Donna Dennison said. The woman told the department that she believes he has married another woman but has not gotten a divorce.
The sheriff said that the department has a lot of legwork to do before it can determine if a bigamy has occurred. She said the case is being complicated somewhat in that the suspect has the same name as a few other people in the area.
