The proposed school budget is drawing little interest from voters in Rockland.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 — two hours after the polling station opened — 14 voters had cast a ballot.

The only issue before Rockland voters is whether to approve the proposed 2011-2012 Regional School Unit 13 budget of $25,948,205. The ballot contains two questions — yes or no on the budget — and whether to approve a fuel contingency account.

The RSU 13 budget goes before voters in Rockland, Owls Head, South Thomaston, Cushing, Thomaston, and St. George. Polls are open until 8 p.m. in the communities.

Last year, 1,378 people cast ballots in Rockland on the RSU 13 budget. That vote, however, was timed with the state primary elections.

There are 4,849 registered voters in Rockland.
