Award-winning author Lily King will speak Tuesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main St./Route 220. Her first book, “The Pleasing Hour” (1999), was a New York Times Notable Book. In 2005, her second book, “The English Teacher,” was a Chicago Tribune Best Book of the Year and a Publishers Weekly Top Ten Best Novel of the Year.
King’s most recent book, “Father of the Rain,” tells the story of a girl struggling with her devotion to her alcoholic father as she grows to adulthood. It was named Best Novel of the Year by Publishers Weekly and the Washington Post; won the New England Book Award for fiction in 2010; and was a New York Times Editors’ Choice.
All three books will be available for purchase and signing. The program is sponsored by Friends of the Waldoboro Public Library and is free and open to the public. For more information, call 832-4484.
