Paul Thurston Maddocks, 83, of 43 Union St., died June 9, 2011, at home surrounded by loving family. He was an extremely kind and gentle man who is going to be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Paul was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Appleton to Raymond and Susan (Thurston) Maddocks. He graduated from Appleton High School and later served in the U.S. Army. From there he went on to work at Mobil Oil as a truck driver.

He is survived by two sons, Peter R. Maddocks and wife, Patricia, of South Berwick and Harold S. Maddocks and wife, Valerie, of Lebanon, Maine; two daughters, Pamela Michaud and husband, David, of Southampton, Mass., and Judith Strauss and husband, David, of Dover, N.H.; six grandchildren; a brother, Robert “Joe” Maddocks of Winthrop; brothers-in-law, Edward “Buster” King and Phillip King; sisters-in-law, Pauline LaCrosse and Charlene Wallace; and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene E. (King) Maddocks, who died in 1992, and his brother, Dudley Maddocks who died in 1997.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick on Monday, June 13 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Monahan officiating.
