Five Town Community School District Adult and Community Education graduated its 2011 General Education Development students in a formal ceremony on May 25 in the Strom Auditorium followed by a reception in the Wave Café.

Tim Dresser, director of the Adult and Community Education Program, hosted the ceremony, with Wayne Dorr, superintendent, and Rep. Joan Welsh, D-Rockport giving keynote speeches.

This year’s graduating class included single women and men, parents, and one grandparent. All had to juggle work schedules with GED class and study time; many had to factor in child care. All have plans for the future around careers in the fields of wind turbines, human services, the marines, animal husbandry, EMT and scuba diving; several plan on continuing their education at the college level.

Graduating were: Ellie Adams, Anya Churchill, Amanda Davis, Matthew Does, Tyler Grindle, Mariah Jones, Jessica Killeran, Scott Landry, Linda Mastera, Bruce Pease and Shani Watmough.
