Tammy Hilchey ‘s pre-algebra classes at Medomak Valley High School has been learning about surface area.
To complete the unit, students took part in the Tin Man Project. Students paired up to make a tin man out of recycled materials such as tissue boxes, cereal boxes, paper towel rolls, etc.. After constructing the tin man, they calculated the surface area and requested the amount of tin foil needed to cover their tin man.
