The Maine Lighthouse Museum has opened for the season with many changes.

One is the newly painted flag pole. Kenny Follet from Journey’s End came and took it down and took it to the Rockland Marine where staff sand blasted, primed and painted the pole. While it was down at the marina being worked on, Paul Dilger, chairperson of the MLM board, with some help from the local Coast Guard scraped the stand primed and painted it. Then Follet went down with the crane, picked it up and placed it back in the stand.

On the inside is the new gift shop. The museum is running its own shop and is striving to keep everything in the shop Maine made from local artisans and businesses. The museum is open seven days a week and is always looking for volunteers, so call 594-3301.
