Artist Anne Kilham was honored in Rockport June 7 when the town’s 2011 annual report was dedicated to her.

“Not every town has an Artist Laureate, but then not every town has the good fortune to have Anne Kilham residing in it,” the dedication begins.

Kilham was cited for her dedication to the town and her commitment to civic involvement at all levels.

“It seems nothing we ask is too big or too small,” said Select Board Chairman William Chapman in presenting Kilham with a framed testimonial. “You donate so many lovely things for us to hang on our walls. Here is something for your wall.”

Kilham has designed the covers of Rockport’s annual reports for more than 30 years.

“Rockport is not only Anne’s subject, it is her canvas,” the dedication states. “She lets Public Works know when a park needs sprucing up or trees need to be trimmed, she has debated with friends the merits of particular curb cuts on Route 1, and convinced a local business owner to change his roadside display because it seemed, well, untidy.”

“We are honored to call you neighbor,” the dedication concludes.
