The ninth annual Light-to-Light Walk/Run scheduled for Saturday, June 18 has been cancelled. The Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, the local chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, and sponsors of the race have returned and refunded registrations already received as they will any future submissions.

Walkers were to have started at 7:30 a.m. and runners at 8 a.m. from the parking lot of Owls Head State Park for the 7.5 mile course, ending at Marie Reed Park near the Rockland Breakwater, but no event will take place this spring.

The public is invited to visit both lights, especially when volunteers have them open according to the following schedule: weekends the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Owls Head Light from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional hours are scheduled for holidays, special occasions, and by appointment; and the tower at Owls Head is open Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m. All times are subject to volunteer availability, weather conditions, and tides.
