The public is invited to the opening reception for local artist Mike Dworkin’s inaugural solo show Tuesday, June 7 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, 24 Lincoln St. The theme of Dworkin’s “rings” exhibit is just that.

“Although my work with the symbol of the ring is a personal exploration into its meaning, at least some of the pieces also reflect in ways upon a wider cultural, emotional/intellectual meaning inherent in the form,” said Dworkin.

The art show will be mounted in the Jean B. Chalmers Art Gallery on the second floor of the arts center, whose entrance and parking is behind the building. Also on the second floor is the auditorium, where local filmmaker Dale Schierholt will premiere his latest short film, which focuses on the concepts and processes Dworkin employs in making his rings.

Dworkin’s “rings” show will remain on view through the end of the week. The gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and other times by appointment.
