The Midcoast high school tennis regular seasons have wound to a close, with two of the best teams in Class B — namely Camden Hills — finishing the regular season with undefeated records.

The Camden Hills girls  wrapped up their unbeaten season Monday against Medomak Valley, while the Camden Hills boys had to play three matches in three days due to postponements and also finished the regular season unscathed with a 5-0 win over Winslow Wednesday afternoon.

Also in action Wednesday were the Georges Valley boys and girls, along with the Rockland girls, with all three coming up short in their respective matches.


Camden Hills 5, Winslow 0 … At Rockport Wednesday, the Windjammers secured an undefeated regular season with a shutout of the Black Raiders.

The individual results, with Windjammer players listed first, were: In singles, Evan Drinkwater defeated Mike McCann, 6-0, 6-1; John Vannorsdall defeated Anthony Breton, 6-1, 6-0; and Isaac Hirschfeld defeated Logan Vashon, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Tucker Van Dusen and Max Fischer beat Brandon Deas and Aven Carpenter, 6-1, 6-0; and Lei Huang and Will Conover bested Skyler Henry and Shane O’Connell, 7-6, 6-4.

Hall-Dale 5, Georges Valley 0 … At Rockport Wednesday, the Buccaneers were shut out by the visiting Bulldogs in a match played at the Samoset Resort.

The individual results, with Buc players listed first, were: In singles, Gordon Armstrong lost to Joseph Shagoury, 0-6, 0-6; Charlie Baker fell to Spencer Shagoury,1-6, 1-6; and Cy McGeady lost to Kevin Zembroski, 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

In doubles, Luke Rector and Tyler Gilson lost to Ryan Branscom and Josh Peterson, 7-6, 2-6, 4-6; and Wesley Bryant and Sam Crockett lost to James Longfellow and Lukas Hjertqvist, 7-5, 4-6, 1-6.


Lincoln Academy 4, Rockland 1 … At Rockland Wednesday, the Tigers were no match for the Western Class B powerhouse and lost their fifth match of the season.

The individual results, with Tiger players listed first, were: In singles, Allison Ward lost to Aimee Keushguerian, 1-6, 0-6; Natasha Seavey fell to Carly Erskine, 2-6, 5-7; and Taylor Stevens lost to Ashlee Hartford, 1-6, 1-6. In doubles, Chelsea Hawksley and Phoebe Ferraiolo defeated Kelsey Leeman and Kara Mullir, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3; and Sarah Henry and Vieno Carter lost to Jackie Hossenpflug and Emma Lazzari, 0-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Hall-Dale 5, Georges Valley 0 … At Farmingdale Wednesday, the Bucs fell to the talented Bulldogs in veteran coach Maynard “Bud” Philbrook’s final match. He announced his retirement after 13 years leading the Buc boys and girls tennis teams.

The individual results, with Buc players listed first, were: In singles, Kasey Waters lost to Wendy Goldman, 1-10; Rosemary McGeady lost to Carrie Withee, 2-10; and Erika Tardiff lost to Katie Wiederhorn, 1-10.

In doubles, Makayla Garrett and Amelia Rinehart lost to Whitney Wie and Megan Daigle, 4-10; and Kendra Finnegan and Afton Hupper lost to Shelby McGibney and Laura Stottler, score unavailable.

Lisbon 3, Georges Valley 2 … At the Maine Pines Courts in Brunswick Tuesday, the Buccaneers were nipped by the visiting Greyhounds.

The individual results, with Buc players listed first, were: In singles, Waters lost to Sarah Geraldo, 4-10; McGeady defeated Megan Craig, 10-1; and Lindsey Joyce lost to Katie McManus, 7-10.
