With the Busline League middle school baseball and softball regular seasons nearly in the books, a handful of teams from the area are scurrying to play all their games before or on the final playable day of Saturday, May 28.

Teams from Rockland, Belfast, Thomaston and Searsport all have been in action in recent days and are looking forward to the upcoming postseason.

The final standings and playoff pairings will be released Tuesday, May 31.

Softball

On May 27, Rockland District Middle School defeated Troy Howard Middle School of Belfast 29-13. Pitchers Payton Billingsley and Jenny Carter combined to allow 16 walks and six hits.

Leading the Eagles at the plate were Chelsea Williams (6 runs), Billingsley (3 hits, 4 runs), Anna Mulhearn (hit, 3 runs), Brittany Rytky (2 hits, 5 runs), Emily Gould (3 runs) and Ashley Gardner (2 hits, 5 runs). Williams, who plays shortstop, also made several sensational plays in the infield, according to Eagle coach Gene Drinkwater.

Mariah Sturgis pitched for Troy Howard, while the top hitters included Katlyn Young (hit, 3 runs), Sturgis (2 hits), Hannah Nichols (2 runs) and Breann Cummings (2 runs).

On May 27, the Thomaston Grammar School softball team defeated Troy Howard Middle School 18-5.

Rachel Robinson (triple), Alex Colson (RBI), Lexi Davis (2 singles, 3 RBIs), Maci Boutot (2 singles, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs), Kaci Boutot (double, 2 singles, 3 RBIs), Sam Benner (2 triples, 2 RBIs), Kalyn Grover (single, RBI), Bailee Cox (2 singles) and Makenna Brooks (2 singles) led the TGS offense, while Mariah Sturgis (2 singles), Cassandra Thayer (2 singles) and Goslant (single) had hits for Troy Howard.

Paige Tyler tossed two innings for the Clippers, allowing two hits and one walk, while striking out four; Robinson went two innings, allowing one hit and one walk, with four strikeouts; and Davis pitched the final frame, walking two batters and fanning two.

Maddie Littlefield pitched for Troy Howard, walking two batters and striking out two.

On May 26, Thomaston Grammar earned a 25-5 victory over Hope-Appleton. Leading the Clippers at the plate were Paige Tyler (2 hits, 6 runs), Rachel Robinson (hit, 3 runs), Bailee Cox (hit, 2 runs), Maci Boutot (4 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBIs), Kaci Boutot (2 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Sam Benner (3 hits, 2 runs, 5 RBIs), Lexi Davis (2 runs), Alex Colson (hit, RBI) and Kalyn Grover (3 runs).

Three pitchers combined on a no-hitter for TGS, with Tyler pitching two innings, allowing no hits and one walk, with six strikeouts. Davis fanned four over two frames and Robinson walked four and struck out two in two innings of work. Makayla Maxwell pitched for Hope-Appleton, surrendering 14 hits and 16 walks, while striking out two.

On May 26, Camden-Rockport Middle School earned a 13-6 win over Troy Howard Middle School. Lauren Mitchell pitched for the Schooners, giving up one hit with three strikeouts through the first three innings of play. Macy Buck pitched in relief, allowing three hits and striking out four. Buck also hit a double for CRMS, while Lemar and Holt each singled.

Mariah Sturgis pitched for Troy Howard, giving up four hits while striking out 10 in a complete-game effort. Maddie Littlefield also had two singles, while Hannah Nichols, Cassandra Thayer and Katlyn Young each singled.

Baseball

On May 27, Rockland District Middle School earned a 10-4 win over Troy Howard Middle School. Leading the Eagles at the plate were Keenan Hendricks (double, 2 singles), Nate Philbrook (double, single), Thomas Curtis (single), Nick Mazurek (2 singles), Ryan Allender (single) and Zach Peaco (3 singles).

Philbrook gave up three hits and four walks, while striking out seven pitching for the Eagles, while Ryan Allender surrendered five hits and walked three in relief.

For Troy Howard, Anthony Defeo (double), Jared Hansen (single), Alex Canning (single), Sam Kulikowski (single), Dakota Walker (3 singles) and Josh Chase (single) led the offense.

On May 27, the Medomak Middle School seventh grade baseball team defeated Camden-Rockport Middle School 10-9. Leading MMS was Ollie Brown (2 singles), Zach Starr (single), Nickolas DePatsy (single), Riley McCollett (single), Patrick Madden (single) and Owen Gilbert (single).

On May 26, Rockland District Middle School earned a 10-0 win over Searsport in five innings. Nick Mazurek tossed a one-hitter for the Eagles, striking out 12 batters, while allowing only one walk.

Earning hits for RDMS were Mazurek (single), Adam Young (single), Mazlin Higbee (single), Ryan Allender (single) and Keenan Hendricks (double).

For Searsport, Conner Fraser rapped a single, while Troy Reynolds tossed a complete-game on the hill.

On May 26, Medomak Middle School posted an 18-2 win in five innings over Great Salt Bay. Leading the Riverhawk offense were Ollie Brown (triple, single), Owen Gilbert (2 doubles), Jackson Vail (3 singles), Riley McCollett (3 singles), Patrick Madden (single), Brendan Lash (single) and Ben Tuner (single).

The Riverhawks also had a strong pitching performance from Adam Wilcox, striking out eight  to pick up the win.

On May 25, the Camden-Rockport Middle School baseball team posted a 5-1 win over Troy Howard. Daulton Wickenden went the distance on the hill for the Schooners, striking out 11 batters while also clubbing three hits at the plate and scoring a run. Andrew Hall (2 singles) and Teddy Laurita (single, double, run) also had hits in the victory.
