Margaret “Meg” Hamel and Samuel C. Peterson of Richmond, Va., announced their engagement.

Meg is the daughter of Bill and Kathy Hamel of Bedford, Mass. She received a bachelor’s degree in art history from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, in 2002 and a master’s in teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., in 2010. She is a high school English teacher in Richmond.

Samuel is the son of Cinda Peterson Rogers and Stewart Rogers of Owls Head and Robert and Elisabeth Peterson of Richmond, Va. He has received a bachelor’s degree from VCU in 2000 and a master’s in teaching from Lehman College in New York City in 2003. He is a high school Spanish teacher in Richmond.

The wedding is planned for summer 2012.
