James O. Green V of Alexandria, Va. and Erica S. Jeffers of Rockland were wed in an intimate garden ceremony among close friends and family on April 23, 2011 in Alexandria, Va.

Green is a graduate of Bishop Ireton High School and George Mason University. He is a data analyst for the Department of Defense. Jeffers is a graduate of Rockland District High School and George Mason University. She is a senior marketing program specialist for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

The bride’s sister, C. Rose Jeffers, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelly Saunders, Megan Thibodeau, Sandia Cornell, and Virginia Stergioulis. The bride was beautiful in an elegant silk chiffon wedding gown and wore a fresh gardenia in her hair. The bride and bridesmaids carried cream roses, burnt orange calla lilies, and green and white hydrangeas. The groom, groomsmen, and fathers of the bride and groom wore matching boutonnieres. The bridesmaid dresses complemented the bride and the setting.

Rain had fallen the day before the ceremony and on the wedding day, clouds remained but the rained stopped an hour before the ceremony. Immediately before the bride entered the garden, the sun broke through, illuminating the wedding party. The bride walked the aisle to the sounds of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” played acoustically on a ukulele by a long-time friend of the groom.

The reception was held at The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, Va. The reception décor had a Tuscan garden theme. The wedding cake, inspired by the unique design of the bridesmaid dresses, was French vanilla with crème-de-leche mousse.

The couple honeymooned on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The couple met in 2002, the first semester of their freshman year at George Mason University. The spark of love and adoring respect was obvious to those around them during the past nine years. Mutual interests kept them nearly inseparable. They enjoy outdoor adventure, traveling, photography, and music.

In the summer of 2009, aboard the family boat on the Indian River in Delaware, before his parents, her parents, Erica’s younger sister, and the couple’s Frisbee-playing companion, Onyx, James asked Erica to marry him.

They reside in Fairfax, Va.
