Eileen K. Morris, 90, of Thomaston died peacefully May 18, 2011.

She was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Rutland, Vt., where she attended local schools. She received her nursing degree at Rutland Vermont Nursing School in 1943 and began her career as a nurse at Rutland Hospital. She married John F. Morris Sr. in 1943.

Eileen and John then moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked at Holy Cross Hospital and Prince Georges Hospital, and then went into private duty nursing for several years. While working at Fieldcrest Manor she received the Employee Award.

She had many hobbies including needlepoint, reading, knitting, playing cards and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Morris Sr.

She is survived by her sons, John F. “Jack” Morris Jr. of Gransonville, Md., and Thomas F. Morris of Richmond, Va.; her daughters, Kathleen Spitzer and Sharon M. Scalzone of Port Charlotte, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
