The fourth annual Serve An Ace for Hope tennis event to benefit New Hope for Women will be Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5 at the Midcoast Recreation Center.

This year’s expanded tournament will feature a senior (50 and older) women’s round robin on Sunday, June 5. On both Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, there also will be an open mixed doubles tournament. The event will be on the indoor courts at the MRC in Rockport. Mixed doubles are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the women’s round robin will be Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The grand prizes for each day’s event have been donated by Betsy Saltonstall. For the women’s doubles portion of the event, the prize is one week’s use of a Sarasota, Fla. condominium (available times to be determined); and for the mixed doubles, it is a weekend stay at Sugarloaf (available times to be determined). The women’s grand prize will be determined by the random drawing of a participant’s name. The mixed doubles prize will go to the tournament winner. All participants receive a “Serve and Ace for Hope” T-shirt. There will be other prizes.

Registration is $50 per person payable in advance. Make checks out to New Hope for Women and send to P.O. Box A, Rockland, Maine, 04841 or pay on the day of the event. Registration closes Tuesday, May 24.

In 2011, New Hope for Women celebrates its 30th year of working to end domestic and dating violence in Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties.
