Lillian Lapointe, 91, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, May 12, 2011, at the Knox Center in Rockland.

Born in Sanford on Dec. 15, 1919, she was the daughter of William and Eugenie Senechal. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Sanford High School.

As a young woman, Lillian was employed at The Goodall Mills as a secretary. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked several years in the cafeteria at St. Ignatius School. For many years she was a caregiver for several children in her home.

On July 13, 1946, Lillian married Eddie Lapointe in Sanford. For over 80 years, Lillian was proud to call Sanford her home. In 2002, the couple moved to South Thomaston.

A homebody at heart, Lillian loved nothing more than being in her home and cooking for her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie, in January 2009; a granddaughter, Jessica Thomas; and two brothers, Wilfred and Albert Senechal.

Lillian is survived by her daughters, Susan Londo of Winter Haven, Fla., Rhonda Thayer and her husband, Elliot, of Belgrade, Maine, and Janet Harjula and her husband, Jerry, of South Thomaston; a brother, Robert Senechal and his wife, Jo, of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Senechal of Sanford; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, June 6 at 11 a.m. at Williams Cemetery on Westbrook Street in South Thomaston. A reception will be held at the Finnish Church in South Thomaston.
