Charles W. Richards was born in Rockland April 16, 1946. He died April 4, 2011.

The son of Stanley and Alice Richards, he was raised in Thomaston. As a teenager Charlie was a member of the Thomaston Fire Department and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After graduating from Georges Valley High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. Since his discharge from the Air Force, Charlie settled in Washington state, where he hauled logs and heavy equipment. He also was active in photography and training horses, and was a licensed massage therapist. In 1988 Charlie joined the Sno-King Vietnam Veterans Chapter in Arlington, Wash.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Leslie of Thomaston; and two half-brothers, Stanley and Anselmo of New York.

He is survived by one sister, Donna of Friendship.

Remembrance will be held Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at Lake View Cemetery in Union.
