Eileen M. Reynolds, 91, died April 30, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Corona, N.Y., the daughter of Patrick and Jane (Coogan) McDonald.

Eileen worked for many years in the real estate business and was the sales manager of Long and Foster Realty’s main office in Northern Virginia. She was also an officer of the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors. Throughout her adult life, Eileen was an active volunteer for St. Michael’s Parish in Annandale, Va., the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, Catholic Charities of Northern Virginia, and the United Givers Fund. After moving to Islesboro, her volunteering continued as a member of St. Mary’s of the Isles Church, an EMT and past president of The Islesboro Ambulance Association, an Alice L. Pendleton Library volunteer, and a member of the Baptist sewing circle. For many years she organized the Grindle Point Lighthouse holiday decorations. Eileen was an exceptionally giving person who will be remembered as someone who offered a helping hand to everyone, including strangers.

Eileen is survived by a son, Roger Reynolds, and his wife, Barbara Lombardo, of Jackson Heights, N.Y.; a daughter, Aileen Reynolds, and her husband, Robert Silverstein, of Springfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Silverstein-Cramer, Thomas Silverstein, Joanna Reynolds and Dylan Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Thomas J. Reynolds; and two sons, Thomas Reynolds and Donald Reynolds. Eileen is the last of 11 brothers and sisters.

Services will be announced at a later date, and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Eileen in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Alice L.
