Madeline G. Economy, 87, died April 27, 2011, at Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland, after an extended period of declining health.

Born in Rockland on Jan. 2, 1924, to Chester W. and Golden A. Haskell Munro, she was the twin of Chester Munro Jr. Educated in local schools, she was a 1942 graduate of Rockland High School.

Other than her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her husband, James Economy, in 1998; two brothers, Chester W. Jr. and Albert C. Munro; and a sister, Dorothy Childes.

She is survived by two sons, David C. Jordan and his wife, Sandra, of Thomaston and Daryl E. Jordan of Owls Head; one sister, Esther Novika and her husband, Neil, of Rockland; two grandchildren, Nicholas Jordan and his fiancé Calah Whitney of Cushing and Denise Jordan Johnson and her husband, Jessie, of Rockport; one great-grandson, Owen Marshall Jordan; as well as several nieces and nephews including one who lived with Madeline as a child, Dorothy “Dotty” Grant of Rockland.

Services in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland, will be private. Interment will be in Achorn Cemetery in Rockland.
