Charlie F. Stevens Jr., 60, died unexpectedly on Feb. 19, 2011, at his home in Jacksonville, Fla.

Charlie was born in Greenwich, Conn., on Nov. 3, 1950, the oldest son of Charles F. and Marion Lee Stevens. He attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and graduated from Greenwich High School in the class of 1968. Charlie was a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology and received his master’s degree from Clemson University.

Charlie worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years in Jacksonville where he left many friends and co-workers who graciously held a memorial service in his honor.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Vickie; her parents, Beth and Delbert Bussard; her brother, Loren Powell and his wife, Teresa, and their children; and a sister, Connie and her husband, Robert Gula, and their children, all of whom Charlie held in high regard.

Charlie so enjoyed his hunting and fishing expeditions with his friends and family, especially here in Maine where he is survived by his father and mother, Charles F. Stevens Sr. and Marion Lee Stevens of West Rockport; his sister, Deborah Miller and her children and partner Bruce Parker; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Maureen Stevens and their children and grandchildren; and his brother, Alan Stevens.

Charlie is also survived by many aunts and cousins who were very proud of him.

A graveside service will be held at Coughlin Catholic Cemetery on Rankin Street in Rockland on Thursday, May 5 at 10 a.m. followed by a reception honoring Charlie’s life at Debbie Miller’s home, 630 Rockland St. in West Rockport.
