The Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy award-winning “The Met: Live in HD” series continues its fifth season, featuring 12 live transmissions to theaters worldwide, Saturday, Jan. 8 with Giacomo Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West.” The opera will begin at 1 p.m. at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St.

Puccini’s Wild West opera stars all-American diva Deborah Voigt as Minnie and Marcello Giordani as Dick Johnson, under the baton of Nicola Luisotti. Lucio Gallo takes the role of Sheriff Jack Rance. The production marks the 100th anniversary of the opera’s world premiere at the Met.

Individual seats are $27. Encore performances are Tuesdays at 1 p.m., 10 days after the live performance (Jan. 18). Encore tickets are $23, general admission. Next up in the series is John Adams’ “Nixon in China” Saturday, Feb. 12.
