Maine Media Women’s January presentation is Part One of an annual, two-part Member’s Showcase that allows members and the public to learn what some typical MMW members call work and fun.

The presentation will take place Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Mobius Center, Business Route 1. Doors will open 9:15 a.m. for coffee and networking with the program starting at 10 a.m.

Emily Lattimore of Rockland will read some new poetry, while Sally Stanton of Northport will speak about what it is like to be the illustrator working with an author on a project. Davene Fahy of Thomaston will do a slide presentation about self-publishing her book “The Boy Who Thought He Was a Plane” and tell how she found her own illustrator. Member Genie Dailey of Jefferson will finish out the program with a selection of cover photographs and title choices for an upcoming members anthology.

Part Two of the annual showcase will take place Saturday, Feb. 5. Maine Media Women regularly meets to exchange ideas and information and to offer mutual support and professional recognition. Originally founded in 1951 as Maine Press, Radio and Television Women, MMW represents the full spectrum of communications careers, including writers, graphic designers, artists, editors, publishers, photographers, videographers, advertising and marketing professionals, public relations practitioners, communications educators, and specialists in broadcast, print and electronic media.

Guests are always welcome. Suggested donation is $5,$3 for MMW members. For more information, visit; call 563-8377; or contact Carol Jaeger at
