Girl Scout Troop 1160 in Warren recently had its annual holiday Bowls, Blankets & Bones Community Service Drive for the Chesapeake Safe Harbor Kennels in Bremen.

The girls collected items to be used at the shelter and brought them on Dec. 14 to the Chessies. The shelter is run by Jane and Ron Peabody. In the last 20-plus years, over 1,400 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers have found loving homes through the Peabodys’ efforts.

The girls were able to meet the dogs, learn how the kennel was run on a daily basis, give treats, brush the canines, and play with several dogs. This was the troop’s third year holding the Community Service Drive.
